A look back at 2020

2020 has been a grueling year for all of us. We have all had downturns and vicissitudes – but we made it through! We stand at the gorge with a new year ahead of us – and while the idea of ‘new year, new me’ sounds like a cliche, we have all changed in ways we didn’t anticipate. And more changes and growth lie ahead. Before we move steadfast into the new year, let’s take some time and look back at all that we achieved and celebrated in 2020. 

WordPress Kathmandu – January Meetup 

The first WordPress Kathmandu Meetup of 2020 happened on the premises of Softwarica College. This gave the beneficiary students to interact with professionals of the field and expand their network. The students also learnt plenty during the meetup and we are sure it helped them widen their knowledge. 

Softwaricans at Kalinchowk 

We kicked off 2020 with our Kalinchowk Tour for our second-year students from Batch 24 and 25. It was a celebration of friendship and togetherness while promoting Nepal tourism. The students had a gala time playing with snow, and enjoying the cold with warm company of one another.

Leo Club “Documentary for Charity”

This was a fund-raising charity event by Leo Club of Kathmandu High Vision that showcased a documentary about the struggles and difficulties faced by people of Karnali region. We were thrilled to be a part of this event, and contribute from our side.  

IOT Exhibition 2020

This year, we organized multiple IOT exhibitions in different parts of Nepal, namely – IOT Butwal, IOT KNIT College (Korean Nepal Institute of Technology), IOT Exhibition in Kalika School and College, and IOT exhibition in New Horizon School and College. These exhibitions not only helped the students tap into their innovative cells, but also played a great role in boosting the student’s self confidence while also promoting IOT. 

Orientation day and fresher’s party of batch 28 A, B & C

An orientation program and fresher’s party was organized for batch 28, A, B and C at Norling Resort. It was a day full of networking, rapport building, icebreaking, and fun. 

Virtual Level Up Information Seminar 

The Virtual Level Up Information Seminar was conducted on December 21, 2020 by AIESEC. AIESEC is a non-governmental not-for-profit organisation in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), affiliated with the UN DPI, member of ICMYO, and is recognized by UNESCO. 

Debate Competition and PubG Tournament

Extracurriculars are a major part of education in Softwarica. We like to challenge our students to be active in fields beyond their academics. This year, we conducted two of such competitions that encouraged the students to activate their creative and aggressive side! The debate competition and PubG tournament were a refreshing turn to an enigmatic year and we loved it! 

10 years of Softwarica delivering excellence

Softwarica celebrated our 10 years of service in the field of education and changing lives through technology this year. We are very proud of the work we have done and the work that we are doing. Even though we could not celebrate this milestone in the most ‘Softwarica’ way, we were happy to have received immense love and support from our students, alumni, teachers and guardians. 

UK tour immersion

At Softwarica, we believe in exploring whilst learning and this year, the horizon to explore widened! A fully sponsored TEN DAYS UK visit package will be offered to the 10 students of Softwarica College, that will include;

Campus 4.0 

We also started our college online portal named ‘College 4.0’. Campus 4.0 offers you a powerful new way to learn online. Every course has been designed according to principles of effective learning, through storytelling, discussion, visible learning, and using community support to celebrate progress.

Rs.5,00,000- project funding announcement

Softwarica College introduces ”Innovation Hub 2020” with  funding up-to NRs. 5,00,000 to the real-time feasible projects/prototype that will pass through several rounds of scrutiny related to market feasibility.

This year has been a tumultuous ride. We have all been through so much, but we have also achieved so much. We are proud of the work we, and the students have done – despite the unprecedented challenges that the year 2020 threw at us. Here’s to a more productive and more fulfilling year. Let’s get 2021 started!
